Not Just Another Expense – Why Auto Repair Shop’s Need a Website

Feb 11, 2013

After working at Repair Shop Websites for some time now, I have come to realize that most repair shop owners don’t understand why a website is important. They either think of the website as another expense or they just don’t understand how it can help them. In this article I am going to explain the benefits of having a website.

Consumers everywhere are going to the internet to search for a service or product before they go anywhere else. The Yellow Pages and newspaper ads are fading away and you need to find a new way to reach your potential customers.  It is very important that they find your business before they find your competitor’s.  There are several ways you can be found by your customers online, but the most important factor is having a web site.

This is a list of ways your customers can find you online:

  • Your Business Website
  • Search Engines: Google, Yahoo, Bing
  • Online Directories
  • Social Media
  • Associations

Having a website is essential these days if you want to attract new customers and maintain customers. Think of it this way; a potential customer is driving down the road and their check engine light comes on. They then decide that they should pull over to the side of the road. They pick up their smart phone and go straight to the internet.  Once online they go to a search engine and type in auto repair or car repair in their city, state. They are desperate so whatever shop comes up on the first page of the search engine they are going to call. Don’t you want your repair shop to be the one that they call?

Here are some reasons why you need a website:

  • Attract New Customers
  • Professional Profile
  • Reach Wider Audience
  • Customer Satisfaction
  • Beat Your Competition
  • Convenience
  • Build Relationships
  • 24/7 Advertising

If you still don’t understand why you need a website here is another scenario:  A family just moves into town, they don’t have any friends or family there. They are having problems with their car and they don’t know of any repair shops close to them.  They need to do research to find a repair shop that they can trust nearby. Now, where do you think they will go to do research? If you guessed the internet, you’re right!  They go online and type in repair shops in their area. They click on the WEBSITE of the repair shop and see the services they offer.  They see that this repair shop can help them, but can the family trust this repair shop? They see that they have reviews on the website so they go to that page. They read the reviews and decide to call that repair shop.

Now why did this repair shop get their business?  There is one main reason why but I will go over some other reasons first. The repair shop was able to be found online, they had reviews and had the types of services that they provided. The main reason why they received their business is because they had an online presence because they had a WEBSITE!

In conclusion, having a website is essential if you want your business to succeed in your industry.  Having a website allows your customers to find you, beat the competition and learn about your repair shop. A website also shows that your business is professional and that you care about your customers. When you want to cut expenses, don’t look to cancel your website. Think of your website as having your repair shop in a million places at once. Sure, your repair shop has one address and people can see it when they drive by… maybe. But if you have an online presence, it gives your customers and potential customers a lot more chances to give you a call.
