We’ve discussed before how recruiting technicians is the biggest challenge facing the automotive repair industry as a whole. While it’s been a problem for years in auto repair, the US job market has tightened enough in the last year that it’s now becoming a problem for industries of all types.
Facebook has announced their response to this development – soon they’ll be adding a jobs page to its Facebook Business section which will allow companies to recruit directly through Facebook. Facebook is more visited than any other job posting site – in fact, it’s the second most visited site in the US, behind only Google. This means that it has the potential to become one of the best places to get in front of potential job candidates.
Facebook management is already one of the most popular features we offer – we keep over 400 shops’ Facebook profiles active and up-to-date with multiple posts weekly, providing constant brand exposure to Facebook users in their local area. Up until now, however, Facebook hasn’t been focused on recruiting, limiting what we’ve been able to accomplish with the site as a hiring platform.
What does this new Facebook job posting feature mean for your repair shop? It’s not clear yet – Facebook hasn’t made the feature available to all businesses yet, so it’s not yet clear exactly how well it will work. Just know that Repair Shop Websites is following developments in this area, and we’ll keep our customers up to date on how we can work together to get your job recruitment posts in front of the job-seeking technicians your shop needs to be successful!
